Do Androids Dream of Electric sheep notes

  • Spider scene: The replicants disregard for life,
    • What simply is VS. what it needs to survive (they tear off four of its legs because they seem superfluous).
    • Isadore Kills the spider but out of mercy, Death better then pain.
  • Mercerism: Doing what is wrong as a neccesary thing
    • Fake: Fake toad and probably fake spider "given" by mercer to characters, Mercer himself proven as fake.
    • Control- Batty makes comment about hitler in regards to Mercer.
    • Cycle: perpertual death and rebirth by mercer, shared experience of others.
  • What is the fear here
    • The inability to define the real
    • No distinction between real or artificial
    • being alone: Kipple effect, Isadore is alone, so is decker in the end
  • Animals as possesions of note/prestiege
    • Shows a humane capacity, the ability to have sympathy and empathy
    • Affinity with the "natural" world
  • Rachel: Replicant who doesnt know
    • Manipulation versues innocence
    • Black haired vixen versus blonde innocent woman
    • Where does Iran Fall
